Cathryn Michael was best known as a Plus size model and Commercial Print Talent in the Sf Bay Area. Since quitting modeling and being a talent, she has decided to go back to School. She hopes to attend a diverse University after completing her AA degree at Diablo Valley College. Over the years, Cathryn has shown an interest in computers and obviously is really smart! She also is also very passionate about working with young people, attending church and writing. As a teen, Cathryn Michael founded and managed, "Global Teen Club International"; an international organization comprised of ethnically diverse and socially aware teenagers. The program produced a monthly 'zine by and for young people. And a few years ago, she was selected as a "Noxzema Extraordinary Teen" and flown to New York City for the gala awards ceremony.
She has appeared in Teen Magazine, Sassy Magazine, Working Women Magazine, Diablo Magazine, Fast Cash for Kids book (nationally published and still available in bookstores), No More Frogs to Kiss (still available in bookstores nation wide) by Joline Godfrey, and countless other zines and newspapers around the world.
After receiving numerous awards for being a "GrassRoots Ambassador," she still remained active in her community. It is very important to be active in the community. I started a youth mentorship program, have participated in the fight against AIDS and have encouraged young people to get involved in their communities. In addition to modeling, Cathryn Michael works full time as an OfficeAdministrator in San Francisco. " I keep busy, but I have a dream and the ambition to make my dream come true. I enjoy reading, writing, working out and spending time with friends. I hope to be able to become a role model for others, especially young girls and women.
Do I consider myself A Role Model?
Life is an adventure....It sure is. It is a time to grow, learn, reflect and become a better person each day. I don't want to be a role model. I am by far from perfect. I make mistakes, but the key is I grow and move on. It takes a strong person to admit she/he is wrong. I like to think of my life as a work in progress.
Quitting Modeling and Commercial Print work
I am so excited about my decision to quit modeling and doing commercial print work. I have a new journey in life. I will be starting school in the Fall of 2009. I hope to graduate and eventually attend a great Seminary School. I see myself getting to know the LORD more and working in a job that completely satisfies me! I also will start doing motivational speaking to young women. I am really excited about my Future!
